SonamKapoor’s, ‘Battle for Bittora’ had most recently been in the news for Kapoor’s short hair look in the upcoming film.Itas an adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s book, of the same name, and will be produced by fatherAnil Kapoor. Now rumours suggest that after Kapoor brought the rights to the film, he replaced actor Saif Ali Khan with Kapoor’s ‘Khoobsurat’ (2014) co-star, Fawad Khan.

The film which was already beingproduced by another banner, had initially approached Saif Ali Khanto playthe lead, and he was on board as well, butit’s being reportedthat after buying the rights, Kapoor replaced Saif with Fawad.A source told Mid-Day, “When Anil contacted author Anuja Chauhan with the proposal to turn her book into a film, he was redirected to the production company which had bought the rights much earlier.”

After much negotiation and an hefty paycheck, Kapoor not only brought the film, but announced Sonam as the female lead thereafter.”The original choice was Saif and the actor, too, was quite keen to do the film. He had like the script a lot. Once he took over, it was announced that his daughter Sonam will play the lead. Later, he signed Fawad Khan instead of continuing with Saif who was already on board.”

The book, ‘Battle for Bittora’ was launched by Saif as well, and received much praise for its story of a Mumbai settled Jinni working in an animation studio, and going back to her hometown of Bittora. Meanwhile,Saif’s next release will be Kabir Khan’s ‘Phantom’ co-starring Katrina Kaif.
