The late Mansur Ali Khan was honoured at a special dinneron 15th Juneat Marylebone Cricket Club. The event saw attendance from the Pataudi family, including Saif Ali Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore and also soon to be bahu Kareena Kapoor.

It is thought Saif took special leave from his shoot in Istanbul for ‘Race 2’ especially to attend the dinner where his father was remembered, according to Times of India. He is expected to return to the shoot today.

Speaking about the event, he said, “It was a huge honour for us to be present at the tribute dinner at the Long Room. It’s considered to be the most revered room in the cricket world, and my mother headed the Pataudi table.” He went on to reveal that the event was also attended by some close friends of his father’s from across the globe.

Talking fondly of his father, he stated, “My father was the kind of man who kept to himself. He didn’t go out of his way to force his views on people. This kind of recognition was bestowed upon him without him having to lobby for it. He lived his life with dignity and grace.”

To follow the dinner, there will be cricket matches in both Oxford and Winchester on 22nd and 23rd June. The Marylebone Cricket Club had also named a Trophy after Pataudi in 2007 in honour of Saif’s grandfather, Nawab Iftikar Ali Khan Pataudi.
