Sahir Ludhianvi biopic stalled again?

Rumours about a biopic of poet Sahir Ludhianvi have been doing the rounds for years, with a number of filmmakers expressing their desire to helm the project.

Initially, it was reported that producer Ashi Dua was going to work on the film, along with debutante director, Jasmeet Reen, and starring Farhan Akhtar. However, it then went to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who was keen to rope in Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Irrfan Khan for the film.

Things then took a turn when Irrfan Khan ended up in hospital over health concerns. This put the project put on hold. It now seems the film has been put on the backburner and may never get resurrected.

Javed Akhtar, who was close to Ludhianvi, told a publication, “He was a very progressive thinker, with a politically developed mind. A lucid film on his life would be very enlightening. I’d be happy to provide my inputs on Sahir Saab whom I knew well.”
