Sahara One to join BARB in July

Sahara One is the latest Asian broadcaster to have its audience officially measured by BARB.

The channel has exclusively told BizAsia that it will become BARB rated from Monday 16th July. It has already become free-to-air in the UK market after leaving the premium VIEWASIA pack.

Asian TV channels have turned to BARB to attract mainstream advertisers who depend on official viewing data to advertise on a particular channel. Sahara One will join the likes of Star Plus, Star Gold, Star Life Ok, UMP Movies, UMP Stars, Zing, Imagine Dil Se, Sony SAB TV, ARY News and Sunrise TV – all of whom are already rated officially by BARB.

Sahara One will be starting a huge marketing blitz to let viewers know about the free status in the coming days. It is also planning to start a slew of new shows and acquire satellite TV premieres to entice viewers to the channel.
