There was much buzz around the remake of the Sridevi starrer ‘Sadma’ (1983). The makers of the film were fixed on having Kareena Kapoor Khan to play the protagonist, however it seems their wishes won’t be coming true.

As reported byPinkvilla, Kapoor Khan declined the offer, where she was reported confirming, “I was approached for the film but I am not doing that film.”

Due to the actress declining the offer the makers have decided to delaythe project until they can find another actress who would be perfect for the role. A source was reported explaining, “The makers planned the sequel keeping Kareena in mind. It۪s her character that drives the film so the female protagonist is very important in the film. Sridevi had nailed her part in the original and the team felt Bebo۪s the only actress of the current generation who can bring in the depth and drama to the table. So after she informed them that she wasn۪t doing the film, the makers decided to put the film on hold for the time being.”

It was also revealed that the makers will have Ranveer Singh reprise the role ofK. Somprakash ‘Somu’, originally played by Kamal Hassan. Seems like the makers will have to do a lot more research in finding the perfect actress for the role.
