Sabras Radio hails live Cannes 2016 coverage
The Midland’s most popular Asian radio station, Sabras Radio has been rejoicing after delivering four-days of exclusive coverage from the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
Sabras Radio was the only UK Asian commercial station broadcasting directly from the festival. The station pulled out all the stops to bring listeners on-air and viewers online updates over the first four days of the event. During the occasion, Sabras Radio’s Raj Baddhan and Missy B notched up an exclusive audio and video interview with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. While other outlets waited for their interview slots, Sabras Radio was given immediate access to Bachchan.
The actress, who was present as the L’Or̩al brand ambassador, walked the red carpet twice. She also premiered her new movie ‘Sarbjit’ (handled by Grand Showbiz for UK) to world press at the event. Bachchan personally thanked Sabras Radio for its quick Facebook review of ‘Sarbjit’ post the film’s screening on Saturday night. Sabras Radio webcast elements live via its Facebook pages. Not only that, Sabras Radio was given access to interview all of the other stars in ‘Sarbjit’ including the producer/director, Omung Kumar, actress Richa Chadha and producers Bhushan Kumar, Deepshikha Deshmukh and Jackky Bhagnani.
Sabras Radio uploaded its exclusive interview with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan via its YouTube channel immediately after it was recorded. The audio version of the interview will air this Saturday on the station’s ‘Filmi Access’ show at 09:00. Similarly, Richa Chadha’s audio and video interview will be available online and on-air this week.

Other than ‘Sarbjit’, Sabras Radio met up exclusively with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who’s film ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’ directed by Anurag Kashyap, will premiere today at the festival. Plus, the station gave coverage to Rahat Kazmi’s film ‘Mantostaan’ starring Sonal Sehgal. It also met up with Mallika Sherawat, who walked the red carpet in Lebanese designer Georges Hoebika’s outfit.
Away from Bollywood, Sabras Radio also covered Hollywood star Steven Spielberg talking about his new film ‘BFG’, which was premiered on Saturday night. Plus, red carpet moments with George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

The coverage was also extended to BBC WM in Birmingham on Sunday night when Missy B gave an update from the festival to Arshia Riaz on ‘Midlands Masala’.
