Saba Qamar on her “humiliating” ordeal being Pakistani

Her act opposite Irrfan Khan in Saket Chaudhary’s ‘Hindi Medium’ (2017) has won Saba Qamar a huge amount of acclaim. However, during the film’s shooting, the actress went through a harrowing ordeal when arriving in Tbilisi, Georgia.

According to New Indian Express, in a recent interview with a Pakistani channel, the actress broke down whilst talking about how she had been detained at the airport whilst the other cast and crew members went through. “We were at the airport and while all my Indian crew went ahead, I was detained. I was investigated and interrogated,” she explained.

Qamar went on to express, “It was the most embarrassing and humiliating moment for me. I was stopped just because of my Pakistani passport.”

Despite her awful experience, here’s hoping the success of the film had shed some light, to how she felt, and maybe some film makers will become more aware with how other countries treat their visitors, so nobody else has to go through the same experience.
