Sony Pictures Networks channel SAB TV will be replacing Star Plus and Star Vijay on the StarSat digital TV platform in Africa.

According to Channel24, the two Star TV channels are moving to StarSat’s rival platform, MultiChoice’s newly restructured DStv Indian package from next month. The package also contains Sony Entertainment Television Asia and Sony MAX, along with Colors.

While, SAB TV will be the only channel from Sony Pictures Networks to be available on StarSat, the digital platform has said it plans to launch more Indian channels to fill the gap left void by Star Plus and Star Vijay. StarSat will be advising customers of the exit of the two channels, with a 7 day notice period given.

SAB TV is also being added to the StarTimes platform across Africa from next month on its satellite and digital terrestrial television services.

“Continuing with our network ethos to always offering the best variety of entertainment to our viewers world-wide, we are excited to be able to launch the ever popular Sony SAB with StarTimes across the African continent,” says Neeraj Arora, the executive vice president and head of international business for Sony MSM Network.
