Rumour: Sony looking to upstage STAR?

If the STAR Network struck paydirt with ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, ‘Koffee With Karan’, and the more recent celebrity dance show ‘Nach Baliye’, Sony did it with ‘Indian Idol’.

Now it has been reliably believed that Sony is putting together another huge dance show based on the popular ‘Dancing With The Stars’ series that airs on ABC. It seems negotiations are still in progress. The concept of the show is to a pair a celebrity with a professional dancer or choregrapher, to be adjudged by viewers and a panel of judges. Talks are on with various Bollywood choreographers and actors from the Indian television and film industry.

Sony reportedly has plans for another interesting show called ‘Extreme Makeover’ (the ‘before-and-after’ kind of photographic features one sees in many women and fashion glossies!), to be hosted by Mona Singh of ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin’. The show will comprise a team of doctors who will give individuals with flawed looks a complete facial transformation.

In other reality TV news…it’s already been confirmed that an Indian version of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ will air on Sony later this year.
