Ruk Ruk Ruk reprised for Kajol’s ‘Helicopter Eela’

Where more and more filmmakers include the classics from the 90s, director Pradeep Sarkar has decided to include a reprised version of the classic song Ruk Ruk Ruk from the 1994 Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer ‘Vijaypath’, in his forthcoming ‘Helicopter Eela’.

Starring Kajol, who will be seen tapping her dancing shoes for the song, Times of India reports composer Raghav Sachar revealing, “I’ve retained the melody just like it was in the original by Anu Malik. We have updated the song with rap portions that make it more conversational. Since Eela’s character is very expressive, it adds a personal touch to the song.”

Being a split-second idea for the director, it seems Sarkar gave Sachar a very tight schedule to work with. “One morning, Pradeep da (Sarkar, director) called me and said ‘Raghav, I want you to recreate the ‘Ruk Ruk Ruk’ song for a film I’m working on. Send it to me by afternoon’. I was stumped, but having worked with him for 22 years, I understood. I rushed to the studio and worked up the basic tune with the rap portions by three in the afternoon. By evening, Pradeep da was also in the studio. When he first heard the song, he just got up and started dancing,” he went on to say.

Set to release on 12th October, ‘Helicopter Eela’ also stars fresh face Riddhi Sen.
