Round-up Review: ‘Lekar Hum Deewana Dil’

LHDD

‘Lekar Hum Deewana Dil’ is the debut of another grandson of Raj Kapoor, Armaan Jain. Deeksha Seth, his leading lady, is also a fellow newcomer and director Arif Ali is also marking his debut. The film’s music has been composed by AR Rahman. The credentials of this film are many and, having released on 4th July, BizAsia takes a look at what the reviewers have said about it.

Soumya Srivastava of Hindustan Times said, “First things first: AR Rahman’s music fails to deliver anything exceptional…One dialogue from the film sums it up aptly for us: “yaar ye toh epic fail hogaya!” Watch it only if your life depends on it.”

Mumbai Mirror‘s Saumil Gandhi concludes, “Deeksha Seth shows some spark, but it requires a better film than this to judge her. Both she and Armaan are undone by some poor writing and direction, and that is indeed unfortunate.”

“As you go through this 140 plus minutes of love saga, which gets increasingly irritating, you stop caring if they are together or not, because going by the storyline, it seemed like they didn۪t care either,” writes Shubha Shetty-Saha of Mid-Day.

NDTV‘s Saibal Chatterjee states, “The young leads are unable to whip up the kind of intensity that a contemporary urban love story of this nature needs in order to click.”

No doubt both newcomers well need some good forthcoming projects to recover this one.
