Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ not a remake of Tamil film ‘Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru’?

There have been reports suggesting that Rohit Shetty’s forthcoming film ‘Sooryavanshi’ is a remake of the Tamil film ‘Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru’ (2017), but Shetty’s team have denied any rumours of this.

According to DNA India, one source said in an article by Mid-day, that the ‘Singham’ (2011) director is currently in the process of acquiring rights to a Tamil film which starred Karthi and Rakul Preet Singh. The team released a statement dismissing any hearsay, “This is with reference to the news that has appeared in Mid-day, that director Rohit Shetty has bought the rights of Tamil film Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru for Sooryavanshi. This is to clarify that the news is completely untrue and baseless. Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi, which is produced and directed by Rohit Shetty, is an original story and not inspired from any film.”

Akshay Kumar will be the male lead in ‘Soorayavanshi’, who was introduced at the tail end of Shetty’s last super hit ‘Simmba’ (2018). However details have yet to emerge of the remaining cast and the leading lady, though it’s speculated that Pooja Hedge may be in for the running.
