Rohit Shetty: “We have to take a breather from the cop universe”

Having successfully produced a string of action-packed cop-verse films, director Rohit Shetty feels it’s all down to luck, though hinting he needs to take a breather from the police universe.

Reported on Deccan Chronicle, Shetty said, “All I can say that I am indeed very lucky that my films have done well at the box office. It’s my job, but when my film releases on a Friday, I feel that fear, and I keep pondering about what the result at the box office will be.”

Expanding on this Shetty explains this type of fear helps to guide him, “I feel having that Friday fear is good, but once the film is complete, actually you come to know the outcome. It’s always good to have that fear in the mind and heart, you at least come to know ki aap sahi ja rahe ho ya nahi (whether you are going right or not). You do analyze where you are going now. While making Simmba, now while completing Sooryavanshi, and also having been in the industry for so many years, at least I understand the level of the film. Having said that, fear needs to be there.”

Currently working on his next instalment in the cop franchise ‘Sooryavanshi’, Shetty shares he does not plan to introduce a new police officer at the end, “We have to take a breather from the cop universe, so we are not planning to introduce any new cop at the end of our next most anticipated film Sooryavanshi.”

Further adding, “We have our next film with Ajay Devgn, after which we shall expand the cop universe with new actors. But we have not planned anything yet,” said Shetty.

‘Sooryavanshi’ will star Akshay Kumar with Katrina Kaif as his leading lady. The film is slated to release on 27 March 2020.
