Rohit Shetty acquires rights for ‘Geetha Govindam’ remake

Rohit Shetty has successfully gained the production rights to the popular Telugu film titled ‘Geetha Govindam’, which had flipped a small budget of Rs. 5 crore into Rs. 132 crore at the box office, thanks to the overwhelmingly positive reception the film received.

But it seems that Shetty will not be involved in the project in a directorial capacity, due to being busy with other projects. A source in the industry has been cited in Deccan Chronicle as saying, “He has his hands full. But then if the need arises, he may direct the film as well. But at the moment, he is figuring out the logistics of the film and has issued a public notice that he is taking over the rights of the movie. The timing is such that even Arjun Reddy which was remade as the superhit Kabir Singh had the lead actor Vijay Deverakonda in a grey shade”.
