Rohit Shetty accused of bribing Censor Board

Rohit Shetty

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who showed enormous respect for the police department and law & order in his blockbuster series ‘Singham’, has been alleged of bribing the ex-Censor Board chief to get his film passed. The renowned director has come under CBI۪s radar following the same reports.

According to IANS, the Mumbai unit of CBI has called for a probe into the case and has already begun investigating the whole matter.

The CBI Mumbai unit has also asked for registration of a case against Shetty and the producers of ‘Singham Returns’ (2014) for allegedly bribing Rakesh Kumar, former Censor Board Chief, to avail them a No Objection Certificate (NOC). The Censor Board has been under the radar for past one year now. The story began when ex-chief of the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) Rakesh Kumar was caught red-handed accepting undue remunerations from various film producers and directors give their films green signal without any kind of censorship.

It has also been alleged that Kumar used to make unnecessary delays in issuing Censor certificates to films in a bid to maintain pressure on producers to bribe him.

But now when Shetty۪s name has been dragged into the controversy, seems like that the controversy will reach new heights.

Shetty hasn’t commented over the issue so far.
