Robbie Grewal: “Sushant was my first & only choice”

With his last feature film ‘Aloo Chaat’ having released back in 2009, director Robbie Grewal is all set for his next big screen project, which will star non other than Sushant Singh Rajput. And if reports are to be believed, the director didn’t want anyone else.

Titled ‘Romeo Akhbar Walter’ the film will have Rajput playing a RAW agent. Talking to the media Deccan Chronicle reported Grewal revealing, “Sushant was my first and only choice for the part. His dedication and commitment are what the role needed. He is fully committed to doing whatever the role requires. Plus, he has the box office clout, especially after playing Dhoni.”

Talking about his experience in making the film, Grewal expressed, “I am happy ground-breaking espionage films like ‘Special 26’ (2016), ‘Baby’ (2015) and ‘Naam Shabana’ (2017) are being made. It makes my job so much easier. I don’t have to spend time in my film explaining the scenario to the audience, I can plunge right into the plot.”

Though Grewal has been away from making material for the big screen, he has been busy  working away for the small screen. “I’ve been busy making ad films. There was no real compunction to return to feature filmmaking after directing three films ‘Samay’ (2003) (featuring Sushmita Sen), ‘Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar’ (2007) and ‘Aloo Chaat’. My livelihood was being taken care of by making ads. I wanted to make a feature film only when I felt I had a story to tell.”

With the first promo poster having been released, ‘Romeo Akbar Walter’ is set to hit the big screen in 2018.
