Online streaming platforms continue to be the place to be. The pandemic has certainly helped streaming services witness an unprecedented boom in viewership in India, leading to Bollywood stars of all statuses making the jump into the service. Superstar Riteish Deshmukh is the latest name to join the list of stars to join OTT projects.

Deshmukh is making his OTT debut with a Netflix film to be directed by Shashanka Ghosh – of Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Khoobsurat’ (2014) and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s’ Veere Di Wedding’ (2018) fame. Screenwriter Rajat Arora has written and is also producing the film, reports Peeping Moon.

The project was supposed to begin in late February but was pushed after the Maharashtra government announced the new lockdown in response to the current pandemic. And with this, the film is now scheduled to begin in July, providing shooting restrictions are lifted by then. Deshmukh is said to be playing a larger-than-life character in this social-comedy that has a release planned in 2022.

Deshmukh has also started preparations for his period drama on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj that will be directed by Nagraj Manjule. Meanwhile, Ghosh is working on the Hindi adaptation of Hollywood comedy-drama, ‘Begin Again,’ which starred Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo.
