Rishi Sunak becomes first British Asian UK Prime Minister

Rishi Sunak has been appointed the first British Asian Prime Minister of the UK.

As well as running the country, Sunak has also been named the leader of the Conservatives.

Sunak got the support of nearly 200 Conservative MPs ahead of the nomination deadline on Monday at 14:00. His rival, Penny Mordaunt pulled out of the race after failing to secure enough support.

Sunak at the age of 41, will become the youngest PM for more than 200 years.

He replaces Liz Truss who resigned as PM last week after just 44 days in office.
