Shashi Kapoor - Dadasaheb 2015

Actor Shashi Kapoor was recently conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award on 10th May.While this was the third Kapoor to receive the honour, after Shashi’s father, Prithviraj Kapoor, and brother Raj Kapoor, nephew and veteran actorRishi Kapoor, feels thatuncle Shammi Kapoor’srecognition, is still long overdue.

Shammi Kapoor, known for his great films like, ‘Kashmir Ki Kali,’ (1964)and ‘Teesri Manzil,’ (1965), had diedin 2011after chronic renalfailure. He and brothers Shashi and Raj were the audience’s favorite, and Shammi was popularly known as, Bollywood’s Elvis Presley.

As according to Mid-Day Rishi took to Twitter to expresshisresentment,(@chintskap), “Ponder. My only resentment is that Shammi Kapoor never got recognized by the government in his lifetime. Posthumously would be great but…Then I think I am being too greedy! Is that what you all Shammi Kapoor fans and aficionados think? What songs what romance what macho what…”

Shammi’s last appearance was in grandon Ranbir Kapoor’s, ‘Rockstar’ (2011).
