The ��Bholi Punjaban�۪ of Bollywood Richa Chadha will be working with Freida Pinto of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ (2009) fame in her next movie ‘Love Sonia’, a film based on child trafficking. ‘Love Sonia’ is the directorial debut of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ producer Tabrez Noorani.
Producer of ‘Life of Pi’ (2012) David Womar will be producing this Indo- American venture as well. The film is scheduled to go on floors this 24th April and is slated to release sometime in 2017. According to reports, the film stars other actors like Rajkummar Rao and industry veterans like Anupam Kher and Manoj Bajpayee.
Commenting on her upcoming project, Chadha said, “I am delighted that I can be a part of this project. I really believe in the content and I can say that this film is being made for the right reasons. I am honoured to be a part such a talented international team.”
The film is based on real life incidents and the story revolves around Sonia, a young girl from a village who gets sold by her father for some money and in the hope that she may land a job in Mumbai. After her disappearance, her sister Preeti goes on a mission to find her and falls into the vicious world of sex trafficking.
The film will be shot mostly in Mumbai with parts of it being shot in Los Angeles, USA. Two of the world�۪s largest anti-trafficking NGO�۪s CAST (Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking) and Apne Aap Woman Worldwide have lent their support to Love Sonia.
The year 2016 seems to the year for Richa Chadha, with two big films ‘Cabaret’ and ‘Sarbjit’ already under her belt. It looks like 2017 is also going to be great for the versatile actress as she gears up for her role in ‘Love Sonia’.
