Richa Chadha on scenes edited in ‘Sarbjit’: “Every actor except Randeep suffered”

Richa Chadha in 'Sarbjit'

Without revealing any spoilers, one of the criticisms of newly released biopic ‘Sarbjit’ is that it falls victim to sloppy editing. Apparently the movie underwent major cuts during the editing process which left one of it’s main protagonists, Richa Chadha with a bitter taste in her mouth.

As perPinkvilla reports, the actress of ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!'(2008) fame, was quoted by a leading daily saying she will never be seen in a supporting role, “It’s not about the length of the role. It’s just that one works so hard on a film. It’s heartbreaking when some of your best scenes get sacrificed on the editing table.”

An actor holds the potential to achieve critical acclaim especially when they do justice in presenting a tough character on screen and their performance also assists in emoting to the audience by establishing equations within relationships. In this regard, Chadha confessed, “Some of my best scenes had to go. The one scene that I still have towards the end where I am shown bonding with Aishwarya [Rai Bachchan]’s character has no context since all my scenes showing my kinship with her are gone.”

The actress, however, didn’t seem to take it too personally and is excited about her future ventures in which she is playing the lead, “I shouldn’t be complaining. Every actor except Randeep Hooda had to suffer the same fate in the film, and that includes Aishwarya. I am not saying I was singled out for role-chopping. All I am saying is that after so much work it’s frustrating to have just one scene for yourself. I don’t need to do this after’Masaan’ and now ‘Cabaret’ where I have the central role.”
