Richa Chadha confirms ‘Fukrey 3’ to begin filming in late 2021

Richa Chadha has confirmed that shooting for the third part of the comedy franchise ‘Fukrey’ will start in the second half of next year.

Chadha, who stars as the character Bholi Punjaban, loosely based on the figure Sonu Punjaban, expressed her excitement for the next instalment, talking to New Indian Express, “The sound of this film always excites me. It’s made up of my favourite people”.

The plot is centred on a story following four friends – played by Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal and Manjot Singh – and how they unite together to make money.

An uplifting and entertaining film which Chadha describes, “comedy as a genre also keeps me hooked”.

Relating her character as a “ball of fun and energy”, Chadha also portrayed her personal enthusiasm for working with the cast members, “I can’t wait to get on set with my boys!”.

Directed by Mrigdeep Singh Lamba and released in June 2013, the first of the series went on to become a sleeper hit. The sequel followed in December 2017, and so the next instalment seems due.

The recent worldwide restrictions, due to covid-19, have impacted everyone considerably, especially the media and film industry. Chadha echoed what many fans must be thinking, “Especially in the uncertain times we live, a film and franchise like ‘Fukrey’ will spread the much needed cheer!”

Everyone has a story…and hopefully we will be watching the adventures of these four friends again on our screens very soon.
