Rhea Kapoor on ‘Rheson’: “It was Sonam’s idea”

This week saw the launch of ‘Rheson’ the brand new clothing line from Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor. Not only is it affordable clothing there is a strong social meaning behind it too.

Reported in Mid-day, the idea behind ‘Rheson’ was down to the ‘Neerja’ (2016) actress, revealed her sister saying “It was Sonam,”…continuing to explain, “Many brands had approached Sonam for endorsement. They wanted to design and start a fashion line with her. But then Sonam came and told me ‘Lets make our own brand. Lets do it right’.”

The ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ (2016) star also said in a statement that what they wanted to offer had to be “authentic”. “It has to be authentic. There is no point giving your name to something when you are not designing it or not being part of it. Specially if it is fashion.”

Further adding, “We wanted to work on something that is owned by us and had our personal touch on every level. The key to the birth of Rheson was to give girls a platform wherein they do not have to spend money to look stylish. Its like accessible, affordable glamour. We did not wish to create a couture brand. Our forte lies in the fact that our clothes should become your best friends.”

The social message behind the brand was also to empower women through their clothing, using the hashtag #NoRhesonICantQueue! during the campaign launch. “We want to empower women. There is no such thing in this world which women can’t achieve. If we put our heart and mind into it, there are no boundaries. Five years back when we started, it was just an idea to have our own brand. And today this idea has come to a fruition so there is no reason that you can not achieve anything,” said the ‘I Hate Luv Stories’ (2010) actress.
