Rhea Chakraborty granted bail in drugs case; Showik denied bail

After a month in jail, Rhea Chakraborty has been granted bail in the drugs probe led by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

While Rhea will be released from jail this evening, her brother Showik Chakraborty has been denied bail after the hearing at the Bombay High Court. Rajput’s employees Dipesh Sawant and Samuel Miranda will also be released on bail.

As a part of her condition, Rhea will need to submit Rs. 1 lakh as bond and register her presence daily at the nearest police station for 10 days after her release. She will also be unable to travel and thus will be required to surrender her passport.

Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde said, “We are delighted by the order. Truth and Justice have prevailed and ultimately the submissions on facts and law have been accepted by Justice Sarang V Kotwal.”

“The arrest and custody of Rhea was totally unwarranted and beyond the reach of law. The hounding and witch-hunt by three central agencies, the CBI, Enforcement Directorate and the Narcotics Control Bureau should come to an end. We remain committed to truth. Satyameva Jayate,” he added.

Rhea has been central in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death investigation after it emerged that she allegedly arranged drugs for the actor. He was found dead at his apartment on 14th June.
