Why 'Villain' became 'Ek Villain'

Balaji Motion Pictures۪ Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh starrer Ek Villain۪ had a title change prior to the release of its first still. The working title of the film was Villain۪ and for anyone who was as confused as we were about the slight change, the answer lies with Arjun Rampal.

There is, of course, no association to Rampal of Ek Villain۪ but, according to Bollywood Hungama, that the actor hold the rights of the name Villain۪. Instead of buying the rights from him, Ek Villain۪ producers apparently chose to take the easier route of changing their film۪s name a little and therefore, the title Ek Villain۪ was arrived at. Rampal, apparently, has been toying with the idea of making a film with that title for some time.

Ek Villain۪ is slated for release on 27th June.
