Revealed: Why Shahid Kapoor opted out of ‘Half Girlfriend’

Shahid Kapoor may have been disappointed about the failure of his last film ��Shaandaar�۪ (2015) but he is currently busy with Vishal Bhardwaj�۪s ��Rangoon�۪. However, news has it that he was being considered for Ekta Kapoor produced ��Half Girlfriend�۪ but has since opted out of the project.

It is thought that the actor loved the novel by the same name by Chetan Bhagat and was excited at the prospect of being seen in its on-screen adaptation. However, after meeting with Ekta and director Mohit Suri, it is thought an agreement wasn�۪t able to be reached between them. Therefore, the makers decided not to have him as male lead ��� a role which is now going to be essayed by Sushant Singh Rajput.

Aside from ��Rangoon�۪, Kapoor will also be seen next in ��Udta Punjab�۪ which also star Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh.
