Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami refused bail by Bombay High Court

Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami request for bail in the 2018 abetment to suicide case, has been rejected by the Bombay High Court.

Goswami was arrested in connection with an abetment to suicide of an architect who designed his studio. Anvay Naik who died by suicide in 2018 reportedly left a suicide note in which he blamed Goswami for not paying his fees. The police claims to have found new evidence against Goswami, resulting in his arrest.

Goswami said that his arrest and the reopening of the case was “illegal”. After the bail refusal today, he has been told that he can go to a lower court for interim relief.

On Saturday, the Bombay High Court refused him interim relief. It said, “We can’t pass any order today. Meanwhile, we will clarify that pendency of the petition will not bar the petitioner from approaching the sessions court for bail and if such an application is filed, it should be decided within four days.”
