Republic TV founder and Editor-in-Chief, Arnab Goswami has been granted bail by the Supreme Court.
Goswami was arrested by Maharashtra Police in connection with an abetment to suicide of an architect who designed his studio. Anvay Naik who died by suicide in 2018 reportedly left a suicide note in which he blamed Goswami for not paying his fees. The police claims to have found new evidence against Goswami, resulting in his arrest.
Justice Chandrachud said, “We hold HC was incorrect in not granting bail. Arnab Goswami and two other accused be released on interim bail on a bond of Rs 50,000. Commissioner of Police is directed to ensure order is followed immediately. Bail granted to Arnab Goswami. Appellants are directed to cooperate in the investigation..let personal bond be executed before jail superintendent.”
