Reports: Anita Rani to leave radio talk show

BBC Asian Network presenter Anita Rani is said to be leaving her Mid-Morning discussion show next year, according to reports.

Anita joined the station last year as a stand-in presenter for the Mid-Morning show, before being given her own weekend breakfast show. When the station unveiled its new look earlier this year, she was then handed the Mid-Morning discussion programme.

A source told BizAsia.co.uk that an email stating Anita’s departure from the show was circulated to staff members on Thursday. The email said that Anita was leaving to pursue “other interests” but would remain an integral part of the station.

Anita will be leaving to concentrate on TV work. She is the face of BBC Two’s Asian programme DNA. Previously she has worked for Channel Five and a cricket show for Sky Sports. Anita Rani will also be sitting in for Anita Anand on Radio Five Live during the Christmas holidays.

A replacement for Anita Rani on the Mid-Morning show is yet to be announced.
