Renuka Shahane signs Shabana Azmi for directorial debut

Her small screen appearances have made her a household name and having shared the screen with the likes of Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan, she is a face that not many people can forget. So when the news of Renuka Shahane returning to Bollywood was announced there was much anticipation as to what she would do. However, it’s not in front of the camera that she’s looking to be placed, but behind it instead.

According to Asian Age, Shahane is gearing up to direct her first Bollywood film, and she’s even managed to rope in Shabana Azmi and Mithila Palkar for pivotal roles. “I am directing a film with Shabanaji and Mithila. There is a third protagonist in the film. I am in the process of finalising for that part,” Shahane was reported confirming.

There had been whispers that Kajol had also been approached but turned it down. It seems Shahane is considering her options rather carefully.
