Remembering Vinod Khanna’s memorable songs

The sad news of Vinod Khanna’s passing arrived this morning and many well-known names – a few of his co-stars – have been seen paying tribute to the actor on social media.

Khanna was known for some of the most iconic roles in the 70s, 80s and 90s and onto the 2000s. He also has some great songs to his name which will no doubt live on for many years to come. BizAsiaLive.com looks back and five of the actor’s most memorable tracks out of the many he had in his career.

Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaaye – ‘Jurm’ (1990)
This is perhaps going to remain Khanna’s most unforgettable song. The track is popular even today at weddings and occasions which require some romance. It can be described as an anthem somewhat. A handsome Khanna is seen with his on-screen wife Meenakshi Seshadri in the melodious song, with lyrics that touch the heart.

Wada Karle Sajna – ‘Haath Ki Safai’ (1974)
This is the film that Khanna won his very first Filmfare Award for, for his supporting part. The song sees him romancing the beautiful Simi Garewal. It’s a track which almost encompasses the era – the hand-in-hand couple love, the forever promises… One that Khanna will be remembered well for as a romantic hero.

Lagi Aaj Saawan Ki – ‘Chandni’ (1989)
Khanna’s role in ‘Chandni’ will perhaps always be remembered as one of his most popular. His pairing with Sridevi is interesting and the song in question is a rain song. Bollywood has many such rain songs but none quite like this one.

Aaj Phir Tumpe – ‘Dayavan’ (1988)
Khanna is paired with the ever beautiful Madhuri Dixit in this steamy number. Its lyrics and melody are still loved today with a reworked version sung by Arijit Singh not so long ago.

Hum Tumhe Chaahate Hai Aise – ‘Qurbani’ (1980)
This is another of the many romantic tracks that Khanna will be remembered for. Zeenat Aman is his heroine in this one, as the two look towards another couple dancing in love. The lyrics are heart-warming once again with Manhar Udhas on the vocals.

Khanna will be remembered forever for his handsome good looks, his great acting talent and as one of those heroes that remained popular throughout his career which spanned decades.
