Relief for Deepika Padukone & Ranveer Singh extended in AIB roast case

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have been temporarily granted relief from the Bombay High Court in the obscenity case filed against them in 2015 as a result of their participation in the AIB Knockout comedy roast.

Singh was the subject of the roast along with Arjun Kapoor, while Karan Johar was the host. Padukone and several other actors were a part of the audience, who also had FIRs filed against them. The accused had filed a petition in the High Court to review the accusations, causing the High Court to stop the police from filing charge sheets until the petition has been reviewed.

According to India Today, Justices B P Dharmadhikari and S V Kotwal have now looked at the petition and refused to come to a conclusion as the petition was not tagged with a public interest litigation (PIL), as required. The relief granted in 2015 has been extended until the file is complete and is presented before the appropriate bench.
