Reliance Entertainment rubbishes rumours of ’83’ online release

In recent days, there have been strong rumours that the much-awaited Kabir Khan directorial ’83’ could well be seen going straight to digital release without hitting the cinemas. Distributors Reliance Entertainment have now addressed this speculation.

Group CEO Shibashish Sarkar confirmed that they are not looking to OTT platforms just yet. He told Hindustan Times, “There is no truth in this. As producers and even the director we all are on the same page that we want to wait for theatrical release for next few months. We will first complete the film then we will wait. If six or nine months down the line the situation becomes much worse we will take a call at that time. There is no hurry.”

He confirmed that some of the post-production work was still to happen. He added, “Everybody has shown interest in this project but we are not engaging in any discussion for a straight to digital release currently. We will wait for next four to six months before taking any further call”.

The film stars Ranveer Singh and a whole host of others. His wife Deepika Padukone will be co-producing the project.
