Reema Kagti shares why she chose Mouni Roy for ‘Gold’

With the release of the highly anticipated trailer for Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gold’ recently. Mouni Roy who is also in the film is making her Bollywood debut and director Reema Kagti reveals why she chose Roy as her leading lady.

Reported on Pinkvilla, Kagti said she knew instantly after seeing the ‘Naagin’ star’s screen test that she would be ideal for the role. “My casting director put several actresses on tape and when I saw Mouni’s first test, I was convinced. She had done such a good job that I was convinced she is the one we were looking for.”

“She is playing Tapan Das’ wife, she has got a really fun part in the film,” added Kagti.

‘Gold’ is a film based on the historical story of India’s first hockey team who went on to win Olympic Gold medal in 1948. The film is set to release on the India Independence day – 15th August.

Apart from ‘Gold’, Roy has two other films lined up – ‘Brahmastra’ with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan and ‘RAW’ paired opposite John Abraham. Definitely an exciting time for Roy!
