RDB's Kuly sadly lost his battle to cancer in May

The funeral of Kuldeep (Kuly) Ral from popular Bhangra fusion group RDB is taking place today. Ral passed away on 22nd May following a year-long battle with cancer. He was diagnosed with a brain tumour in April 2011 and was in Houston, USA, undergoing treatment at the time of his death.

Celebrities tributes poured in for the 35-year-old in the weeks since his loss and his family also spoke about him. A memorial page was set up in his honour and his family have asked that donations be made to Brain Tumour UK in his memory. His brother and fellow band member, Manj, remembers his sibling, “Kuly was the most creative person I had ever known. I was privileged and honoured to learn everything I know today from him. He was my mentor as well as my older brother and I will always follow the example he set and keep making him proud of me”.

Surj, the third member of RDB, also added, “He always encouraged people around him to work harder, achieve more and as he would always say_ keep breaking the boundaries. His incredible work ethic and legacy will continue to motivate us to move forward and help achieve the dreams he had for RDB and Three Records. We thank family, friends and most importantly our fans for helping us get through this tough time. Thank you.۝

Sister-in-law Nindy Kaur also spoke about Ral, “Although Kuly was my brother in law I always looked at him as my own brother. He was always fair and never took sides with anyone, he looked at logic and people۪s feelings and that was the one thing I loved the most about him. I’m going to miss Kuly, my biggest fan in the studio, my brother and my decision making partner”.

Ral always remained passionate about giving back to society and selfless-giving. As always, BizAsia’s thoughts are with the family today as they lay their eldest son to rest.
