Ravi Udyawar: “I’m working on something really exciting”

With the huge success of ‘Mom’ (2017), director Ravi Udyawar is apparently already in the midst of planning his next. If all goes to plan, it will be nothing like his last.

The filmmaker was asked during a recent media interaction if he will carry on making films about crime and drama as he did with ‘Mom’ which marked his debut in the film. However, Udyawar was sure that he wants to experiment with different things. “I want to explore different genres, something new and challenging in my next film. I am working on something really exciting and looking forward to making it,” said Udyawar to New Indian Express.

Having come from a background of directing advertisements to then a full-length film, Udyawar spoke about the difference between the two and how big the leap is. “For advertising, it is all external. Every second counts, every frame is set flawlessly to tell a story and sell a product. But directing movies is internal. What matters is that it is all about the characters and their emotions, and what’s important is the narrative, the story and at the end of the day, its emotional takeout,” he said.

If his last film is anything to go by, then it seems audiences will be in for a very pleasant surprise with his next.
