Ravi Kishan says Sidharth Malhotra “should be forgiven” for Bhojpuri comment

Ravi Kishan has spoken out about the flak Sidharth Malhotra received after he compared the Bhojpuri language to him being in the washroom.

Talking to Hindustan Times, the Bhojpuri actor, Kishan said, “I don’t blame Sidharth. Maine Manoj (Bajpayee, who had appeared with him on that show) se poochha tha, too much sound thi udhar, kuchh samajh nahi aaya aur galatfehmi ho gayi. (I asked Manoj Bajpayee about this, and he told me that since there was too much sound there, one couldn’t understand anything and that led to the misunderstanding).”

“He said sorry later, so we shouldn’t be too hardcore and take out our swords over this. He should be forgiven… One person’s comments can’t bring down the entire Bhojpuri community or language,” added Ravi.

Earlier, actor and producer, Neetu Chandra had slammed Malhotra for saying such derogatory things about the Bhojpuri language, “So disappointed @S1dharM someone who is so fortunate to work with best. Who despite being an outsider has made a name for himself, for you to use your words so loosely to disrespect Bhojpuri on national Television. Shocked! How on earth does speaking Bhojpuri gives you a latrine feeling. Shame on you.”

Since then, Malhotra has apologised for hurting sentiments of the Bhojpuri community. He tweeted, “I recently tried speaking a new language while I was on a TV show. In the process if I inadvertently hurt anyone’s feelings or sentiments, I apologise and assure you that no disrespect was meant in any way.”
