Ratings Watch: Oscars 2018 lowest ever recorded

The 90th Academy Awards – Oscars on Sunday night were the lowest recorded ever in the US, according to early figures.

MediaGuardian reports that 26.5 million US viewers watched coverage of the star-studded night on ABC. That was a 16% drop from the 32.9 million who watched the event last year. The ratings exclude mobile and digital viewers.

Despite the audience drop, the Oscars were the most watched US TV programme on Sunday night and is likely to be amongst the top shows of 2018.
