Ratings Focus: ‘Bigg Boss 16’ opens better than 2021 but less than 2020

The opening of ‘Bigg Boss 16’ this month was bigger than last year but much smaller than ‘Bigg Boss 14’ in 2020, BizAsiaLive.com can confirm.

In Overnights data released to BizAsiaLive.com, ‘Bigg Boss 14’ attracted 87,800 viewers – peaking at 128,000 viewers. It was worth noting that 2020 was the peak of the coronavirus lockdown in the UK and other countries. Comparatively, in 2019, ‘Bigg Boss 13’ opened up with 39,100 viewers.

Last year, the premiere of ‘Bigg Boss 15’ fetched 28,700 viewers – peaking at 60,600 viewers. This year, ‘Bigg Boss 16’ opened up with 42,700 viewers – peaking at 72,000 viewers.

A media commentator told BizAsiaLive.com, “Bigg Boss is the mother of all reality shows! The show picks up pace as the character of each contestant is unravelled. This year’s series has an interesting mix of personalities and together with the show’s circus theme, it is expected to garner huge ratings for the broadcaster.”
