Rape allegations against Madhur Bhandarkar dropped

The Supreme Court today quashed rape charges against Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar.

In 2009, a woman named Preeti Jain accused Bhandarkar of raping her on the promise of giving her a film role. She had alleged that they had sex 16 times between 1999 and 2004.

The court had stayed criminal proceedings against the filmmaker in April this year.
