Ranveer Singh apologises after mimicking Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara’ scene
Ranveer Singh has publicly apologised following widespread backlash over his performance at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. During the event, Singh mimicked a sacred sequence from ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ and mistakenly referred to Chamundi Daiva, a revered deity, as a “female ghost.”
The clip quickly went viral, sparking outrage across social media and prompting a police complaint from a Hindu group, who alleged that the actor had hurt religious sentiments.
Singh to his Instagram to express his apology. He said, “My intention was to highlight Rishab’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way that he did, for which he had my utmost admiration. I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise.”
