Rani Mukerji’s ‘Mardaani’ sequel finds its next villain

News of a sequel to Rani Mukerji’s ‘Mardaani’ (2014) has sparked rumours about who will be the next archenemy.

Reported on DNA India, speculation has been doing the rounds with some young actors saying they have “been approached” by director Aditya Chopra. While others believe that Chopra is set to launch a new face for ‘Mardaani 2’. A close source shares how the filmmakers have been on the hunt for the next villain for some time now and have apparently found a 21-year-old who fits the criteria. “The makers have zeroed in on a young boy who will take on Rani in this much awaited sequel. It will be a debut for this boy and everyone tells us that he is a talent to watch out for. If Adi has chosen him to be pitted against a powerful performer like Rani, one knows he must have definitely impressed the filmmaker. The role requires a menacing, blood-chilling performance and we are excited to find out who this young boy is.”

In the original ‘Mardaani’ (2014) Mukerji is seen essaying the character of Senior Inspector of the Crime Branch, Shivani Shivaji Roy. Tahir Raj Bhasin was the nemesis in the film and his performance has since led him to achieve greater things.

‘Mardaani 2’ will be produced by debutante Gopi Puthran and the film is slated to go on floors later this year.
