Rani Mukerji “will miss Abhishek Bachchan dearly” in ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’

Yash Raj Films have recently announced that ‘Gully Boy’ (2019) fame actor Siddhant Chaturvedi and debutant Sharvari are set to star in the sequel to ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ (2005).

The production house has also revealed that Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan are going to be the elder Bunty and Babli in the film. This announcement has left many cinema-goers shocked as ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, originally starred Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan in the lead roles.

Bollywood Life reports Mukerji saying, “Abhishek and I were both approached by YRF to reprise our roles as the originals in ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ but, unfortunately, things didn’t work out with him and we will miss him dearly. As a team, we are so happy to welcome Saif. I have lovely memories of working with him and I’m really looking forward to creating something new and exciting with him in Bunty Aur Babli 2. Hopefully, audiences will give us the same love that they have given our earlier films.”

Director Varun Sharma shared, “’Bunty Aur Babli 2’ is completely set in today’s time. Siddhant caught everyone’s eye with his brilliant acting debut in Gully Boy and became the heartthrob of the nation. We are very excited to have him play the role of Bunty. He is a superb actor, is extremely charming and he fits the role perfectly.”

Mukerji and Ali Khan will share screen space together after a gap of 11 years. They have previously worked in ‘Hum Tum’ (2004) and ‘Ta Ra Rum Pum’ (2007).

‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ is slated for release in 2020.
