Rani Mukerji: “The nepotism debate is baseless”

Rani Mukerji is still noted as one of the finer actors in Bollywood. While she is related to names like Kajol and Tanuja, Mukerji says this doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting anywhere. The nepotism debate has struck all sorts of discussions, but Mukerji says it is baseless, because she was still the daughter of an not-so-successful producer/director.

As according to Pinkvilla, Mukerji said, “I wouldn’t say I had a soft landing. In the film industry, you get where you get because of your talent and merit. We have to sweat in and out and work in all kinds of environments and wait for the audience to accept you or not accept you. You may be the brother, sister or daughter of a popular actor and director and still not be accepted. When I got into films, my dad wasn’t a very successful producer or director. The nepotism debate is baseless. People have come from an non-filmi background and made it big in Bollywood.”

Mukerji will next be seen in Yash Rajs’ ‘Hichki’, which is slated to release on 23rd February, 2018.
