Mukerji prepared to sing for 'Aiyya'

First we saw Aamir Khan do it for ‘Ghulam’ (1998), then Shah RukhKhanfor Josh۪ (2000) and, most recently Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara۪ (2011). Stars lending their voices to the musical side of films is no surprise, so when news broke out the Rani Mukherji was to sing in her forthcoming film ‘Aiyya’, excitement was sky high. However, now it’s now being revealed that Mukerji has since backed out.

Apparently whenMukerji heard that director Sachin Kundalkar and the production team wanted her to sing, she started rehearsing and practicing straight away. According to The Times of India, a source hassaid She prepared for weeks, did riyaaz but finally, on the recording day, backed out after singing a few lines. She ultimately felt that her voice could ruin the song’s impact.۝

The song that the actress was to sing was supposed to be a fun loving and uplifting number. WhyMukerji felt she wouldn۪t do justice after all the preparation, only she knows.

‘Aiyya’ will also star South Indian actorPrithivraj and is planned for release in September.
