‘Rangoon’ makers fork out Rs. 2 crore over copyright war?

News has it that Vishal Bharadwaj-Khan and his team have been ordered by the Bombay high Court to fork out Rs 2 crore in a legal battle that claims they have taken the personality of a lead role from another film.

According to Deccan Chronicle film production house Wadia Movietone Pvt. Ltd have accused Bharadwaj of copyright infringement. The production house claim that Bharadwaj has taken their character of Fearless Nadia, played by Mary Evans in their upcoming ‘Hunterwaali’, and used her character as Julia played by Kangna Ranaut.

With the film out at cinemas today as planned, news assumes that the fine has been paid.

‘Rangoon’ also stars Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor.
