When it was announced that Omung Kumar will be responsible for telling the story of Indian farmer Sarabjit Singh on celluloid, there was much speculation as to who he would sign to play the part. As BizAsia reported earlier, there were a few names said to be associated with the project.
Already having signed on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play Singh’s sister, according to��Times of India, Kumar has now roped in actor Randeep Hooda to play the protagonist.
Sarabjit Singh worked as a farmer in Bhikhiwind, Punjab which stands only 5km from border. During a drunken evening un-intendedly����managed to cross the border over to Pakistan where he was accused of being an Indian spy and was arrested. During his sentence, his sister Dalbir Kaur attempted to prove his innocence however, Singh was murdered by his own inmates. Now Kaur has reached out the the Indian Film Industry in order to tell the real story of her brother.
No doubt it will be a role that Hooda will be interesting to see in.
