Randeep Hooda, who will next be seen in ‘Sarbjit’, recently talked about how his mum Asha Devi Hooda is more like a friend to him, someone who has always encouraged him throughout life.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Hooda shares how his mum has always been supportive and playing an instrumental role in his first audition in Monsoon Wedding۪ (2001). My first audition for Monsoon Wedding materialised because of her. We were leaving back for our hometown Rohtak from Delhi. She was half-way down the stairs, when I got a call from filmmaker Mira Nair. It was an audition call. From my conversation on the phone she figured out that I was being called for it. She came back with the bag and said, come, let۪s go۪. I had broken my hand a few days before this, and I might have skipped going for the audition. But my mum not only encouraged me to go for it, but also drove me around, he said.
Hooda went on to say that his mum has an unfulfilled wish, which is to see him married off. There is this whole thing of get married۪ (sic). She keeps sending me pictures of prospective brides (laughs)… she wants me to get married and have children.
Hooda plays the protagonist role in ‘Sarbjit’ and will be seen alongside Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Richa Chadha in the film.
