Though Imtiaz Ali۪s Highway۪ (2014) saw much critical acclaim, it did not quite bring in the numbers at the box office. According to Hooda, it was natural for Alia Bhatt to have been the centre of media hype during the promotions but there seems to be a sense of disappointment in the actor۪s words, as he taunts the director for having focused so much on Bhatt.
Alia is young and happening and till then had played an airhead heroine. Highway۪ was the first film where she got to act a little. Being Mahesh Bhatt۪s daughter, the media hype was inevitable… But without Mahabir there would have been no Highway۪. (Laughs) Maybe if Imtiaz Ali had gone the other way, he would have made more money, Hooda said in an interview to Mumbai Mirror.
Hooda also went on to express his disappointment with Bollywood in general, stating how despite being a part of good films, he never gets credit for their success. He said, Bollywood is a funny world. That۪s why I like sports better; you either win or lose there!
Randeep Hooda will next be seen essaying an important role in the Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer, Kick۪.
