Ranbir Kapoor’s Kishore Kumar biopic set to take off?

Ranbir Kapoor and Anurag Basu have been longing to make an biopic on the late Kishore Kumar. The project has been delayed with Kapoor’s dates being committed to other films, but now the film is happening, upon approval from the Kumars.

As according to the Bombay Times, director-writer Somik Sen is awaiting the approval of Kumar’s sons, Amit and Sumeet, and Sumeet’s wife Leena Chandavarkar. Amit has reportedly told Basu that nothing can be made without his approval, and Basu has given him full authority. A source revealed, “Intially, Anurag Basu fought off Amit Kumar’s claims as far as he could. But then matters came to such a head where it was either Kishore Kumar with Amit or no Kishore Kumar at all. Anurag decided to drop the project at one point, rather than let Amit have the final say in the content. But now Anurag has agreed to Amit Kumar’s conditions.”

Another source also added that Kapoor and Basu are not too happy with the reigns being taken away, saying, “But the choice was between making the film with pre-conditions or not making it at all. Both Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor have decided it’s better to realize their dream project even with someone breathing down their necks rather than giving up the dream.”
